TESOL vs ..........??
TESOL is updated almost biannually. As technology changes, so are the methods of teaching and its adaptation to technology. To update or change anything in TESOL, we can just do it as we fit necessary subjects to Board of Academic Directors approval. For the same reason, there are Online TESOL programs. There is also a training course to educate teachers to teach online ESL in TESOL. There are universities that offer Masters or PhDs in TESOL. TESOL has continuous research and academic advancements in it through all these universities and is an Academic University Credit Based Program. The purpose of TESOL is to teach ESL and EFL both in non-native and native speaking countries. With TESOL one may work at Language schools, colleges or universities depending on his/ her credentials. TESOL is for now and the future of ESL teachers training. New and diversified schools use TESOL and so a TESOL holder does not need to upgrade to other programs.
Accreditation, however, is different for each TESOL. As it is so diverse from many different countries, the accredited TESOL shall carry at least three external approvals with one from a National Association of Teachers, another from a Ministry of Government body, and a third from an International Teachers Union or Federation. TESOL CANADA has 14 of such approvals. A TESOL School without the above, is just a career preparation training without academic values.
